Therapeutic Touch®
Therapeutic Touch® is a contemporary interpretation of several known ancient laying-on-of-hands healing practices. In 1970, Delores Krieger, PhD, RN, professor emeritus of Nursing at New York University, and Dora Kunz, a gifted energy healer, developed and standardized the technique. This standardization generated much interest in doing research on the effects of TT treatments. Gradually, Therapeutic Touch® has gained recognition and is now offered in health centres, hospitals and cancer canters in Canada, the US, and beyond.
Therapeutic Touch is based on the following assumptions:
-
The human being is an open energy system composed of layers of energy constantly interacting with the self, others, and the environment.
-
Illness is an imbalance in an individual's energy field.
-
Clearing or balancing the energy field promotes health.
-
All humans have natural abilities to heal and enhance the healing in others.[1]
Research and clinical experience have shown that Therapeutic Touch is effective in the following areas:[2][3]
-
To promote relaxation
-
Reduce anxiety and stress
-
Managing pain
-
facilitating the body’s natural processes
-
fostering a sense of peace and acceptance.

“Before I received TT I was a little skeptical but I am now confident that your treatments are helping me to cope with my health problems. I feel more positive and have been able to gradually get back to my regular routines".
